Monsters at the museum

So here's an update about my master thesis, which is keeping me quite busy. I'm working on a pervasive experience for KUNSTEN - Nordjylland's Museum of Modern Art. My idea is to give museum visitors a virtual pet/monster that will follow them during their museum visit. After the visit is done the visitors can interact with their monster from a smartphone app they can dowload as well as on a website. The target audience is mainly young teens, who tend to get bored when brought to museums by family or school.
Here is a temporary concept image (which I'm still working on so consider it as a work in progress image, as not all details of the concept are included yet).

The museum visitors will create their monster by collecting monster body parts. These parts can be acquired by scanning QR codes with a smartphone, which will be placed near art in the museum as well as other hidden places. Once a code has been scanned the user has to complete a challenge that appears on the smartphone. The actual looks of these body parts will be inspired by the art they are collected from and will also be tradable between users through the app and the website.
The monsters will "live" on a screen at the museum where all visitors can interact with them and see peoples monster creations.
This was a brief description of my main concept, I will be implementing a simplified version that should allow me to test the idea and possibly the pervasive design.
